Tritonia Red Bulbs are attractive flowering bulbs that produce vibrant red blooms on slender, upright stems. These eye-catching flowers are perfect for garden borders, rock gardens, and decorative containers. Tritonia belongs to the genus Tritonia and grows from small corm-like bulbs that bloom beautifully during the growing season.
Tritonia Red grows best in full sun to partial shade.
Provide at least 5–6 hours of direct sunlight daily for strong stems and bright, healthy flowers. In very hot climates, light afternoon shade can be beneficial.
These bulbs prefer moderate temperatures between 15°C and 28°C.
They perform well in mild weather and may go dormant in extreme heat or cold. Protect the bulbs from frost in colder regions.
Use well-draining sandy or loamy soil enriched with organic compost.
Plant the bulbs about 2–3 inches deep with the pointed side facing upward. Space them 3–4 inches apart to allow proper airflow. Good drainage is essential to prevent bulb rot.
Water moderately after planting.
Keep the soil slightly moist during the active growth and flowering stage, but avoid waterlogging. Reduce watering once flowering ends and foliage begins to dry.
Apply a balanced fertilizer during planting or early growth.
Light feeding once a month during the growing season is sufficient. Avoid over-fertilizing, as it may reduce flowering performance.
Tritonia bulbs multiply by producing small offsets around the main bulb.
After the foliage dries, carefully lift and separate the offsets. Store them in a cool, dry place or replant during the next growing season.
Remove faded flowers to maintain a neat appearance.
Allow the leaves to dry naturally after blooming so the bulb can store energy for the next season. Trim off dried foliage once fully yellow.
Tritonia Red Bulbs are generally low-maintenance and resistant to most pests.
Occasionally, aphids or fungal issues may occur due to excess moisture. Ensure proper drainage and air circulation. Treat infestations with neem oil or mild insecticidal soap if necessary.
With proper care, Tritonia Red Bulbs will reward you with vibrant, long-lasting blooms that add bold color and elegance to your garden or containers.
